Colonial Village I is a 212-unit garden-style condominium complex located on six acres near the Courthouse Metro stop (Orange Line) in Arlington County, Virginia. The condominium’s park-like ambiance and its proximity to the Metro are two reasons for its popularity. The majority of the units are one-bedroom, with a fewer number of studios and two-bedrooms. All units have one bath. Studios have a through-the-wall air conditioner; one and two-bedroom units have central air conditioning. There is a laundry room in each “pod” of buildings; no clothes washers or dryers are permitted in individual units. There is a permit-only parking lot with 74 spaces, available on a first-come, first-served basis. No more than one parking permit is issued for each unit. There is a significant amount of street parking, but availability can be limited late at night. Colonial Village I was once part of a much larger development built in the early 1930s as one of the first garden-style apartment complexes in the United States. In the early 1980s, it was redeveloped and divided into three condominiums (Colonial Villages I, II and III), a cooperative (The Commons), and two corporate owned rental complexes. Please note that the management office cannot provide any information about the availability of units for sale or rent. Contact a Realtor for information on buying or renting in Colonial Village I.
