Living in a dorm provides a convenience factor, but other than the excellent location, off-campus college apartments are the best way to enjoy college living. Here are three reasons moving off campus is the best living environment for college students
Socialization. The socialization aspect of living off campus can work for hermits and social butterflies alike. If you’re a book nerd who loves the library and needs your own space, living in your own apartment allows you to avoid the distracting noise found in on-campus student housing. On the flip side, having your own space makes it easier to party like a rock star. If you live in your own off-campus apartment, you don’t have to follow the campus rules about partying (or not partying) in the dorms. Of course, you should always be respectful of your neighbors, regardless of where you live.
Sleep. For most, sleeping on a twin bed or twin loft found in most on-campus student housing is less comfortable than sleeping outside on a concrete floor. When you move into your own college apartment off campus, you can have your own room, even if you have a roommate. This means you can sleep peacefully in a full, queen or even, king-size bed. When you blow off your morning lectures because you partied too hard the night before, you can sleep soundly in your big bed in your new off-campus apartment.
Pets. Student housing does not allow you to bring Fluffy the cat. College and stress often go hand-in-hand. However, research shows that pets can help reduce those study blues. Living in an off-campus college apartment, in many cases, gives you the opportunity to have a pet. You can chill with your chinchilla, cuddle with your cat or dine with your dog.
These are just a few of the reasons that off-campus college apartments are the preferable living environment for students. Can you think of any other reasons that you might want to move off campus? Sound off in the comment section below.
