With the increasing popularity of online shopping, your in-store purchases are probably few and far between.
Online shopping is convenient, checkout is relatively simple, price comparisons are readily available, and you can find items much more easily. There are multiple benefits to shopping on the web, however, there are still some things that you should probably still buy at the store.
Produce
More and more companies are coming out with ways to grocery shop online. Companies like Lowe’s Food allow you to order online and drive through to pick up your items, and companies like Amazon Pantry and Thrive Market will deliver right to your door. Caveat to food shopping though: you should probably stick to the local store and Farmer’s Market when it comes to buying produce. This way, you know if they are fresh and where they come from.
Flowers
As with produce, it’s difficult to know exactly what you’re getting when purchasing floral arrangements over the internet. Consider the convenience of returns as well- most occasions that would require such a purchase are time-sensitive, so you would receive them around the time that you’d need them. If you or your loved one receives a less-than-impressive bouquet, it might be too late to do anything about it. If you’re sending flowers, pay a visit to your local florist so you can get exactly what you’re looking for. If you want them to be sent somewhere, most local florists have a delivery service as well.
Wedding Dress
One of the most important events in your life – your wedding day. One of the most important items of that day – your wedding dress. Do not take the easy, cheaper way out by purchasing this dress online. Even if you had time to alter your unexpected mess of a dress, you’re better off going to a boutique to ensure quality and peace of mind.
Pets
Some people post photos of adorable, purebred pets online to scam people out of money for a nonexistent animal. While this may not be quite as popular as it used to be, you should still never pay for a pet online. If you do fall in love with a picture, request to see the animal in person before exchanging money. You’d be doing a disservice to your future pet if you don’t meet it beforehand. Pet ownership relies a great deal on chemistry, and returning an animal when it could have been prevented is not cool.
Fine Jewelry
Costume jewelry is meant to be artificial and cheap, but if you are shopping for a fine watch or an engagement ring, you may want to pay a visit to the jewelry store. If you’re shelling out big bucks for fine jewelry, take the time to see it in person.
