Never mind the big, unaffordable (and unrealistic) fashions walking down the runway in New York. You’ve got better 2018 spring style at your local store for flattering prices.
What’s Hot!
Color, color, and more color, 2018 is the year where we embrace changes and differences and reflect that same positivity in our clothing.
Sequins:
It could be the recent fad of everyone wanting to be a mermaid (or, maybe that’s just me) thanks to YouTube upstarts slipping into flashy, colorful swim tails because that craving to wear this sparkle around has fashion fanatics putting sequins on shirts, pillows, and purses.
Wearable art:
Familiar with Andy Warhol? Looks like he’s partnered (or might partner) with Calvin Kelin to produce wearable art. Do I hear 1980 nostalgic echoes?
Fanny packs:
You can come out of the closet now. Fanny packs are being accepted without bias or opinion. Still, have yours from 1991? Wear it with pride for never having lost faith! (With cellphone screens getting bigger – and more expensive – a handy fanny is safe, secure storage for your expensive electronics. And that extra donut.)
Scrunchies:
Another node to the 1980s is the thick, colorful hair tie. Go crazy! Where 2 in 2 pigtails, layer them in a ponytail, wear them around your wrists or ankles. Own your style!
Cargo pants:
Jeans have been favorites for a while – worn by characters in books and movies – but people are looking for something fresh and unique. Who can blame them? Hard to be original when every Joe in the room is wearing blue jeans. Be different and wear cargo pants. A plus if they’re camo.
LOTS of bright flashy colors:
Predictions range everywhere from bright to floral, to a big clashy mess of both. Loud and proud, everyone is bound to look different. No more, “She looks better in those same jeans than I do.” With so many variables to wear, there’s not going to be a single person wearing the same thing as you. So you’ll simply look the best in everything.
But what’s even better than following a trend? Starting your own! Throw together whatever makes you happy and see if others don’t follow suit in 2019.
