There’s going to come a time when spring break doesn’t live up to your previous years’ expectations. Whether it be money, work or – more often than you’d imagine – both, there will come a time when spring break arrives and you can’t participate.
Nothing will match the wind-blown, sun-drenched beach fun you may have exhausted in years past, but just because you can’t travel doesn’t mean you can’t find pockets of fun to appreciate the week-long extravaganza.
Should you be stuck at your apartment this year, here are some fun, mildly cheap (or free) ways to make the most of your spring break.
Have A Movie Marathon
Simple and certain, a Netflix marathon is the best pastime for the lowest or no cost. Your queue is probably adding up from all those times you saw something you wanted to watch and couldn’t. Start watching from the beginning and push through as long as you can. Sure it’s not the most productive use of time, but at least you accomplished something on some level.
Have A Spa Day
College is stressful and a solid spa day is something to be celebrated. Figure out how much you can spend and take a day to regenerate before the onslaught of school and stress returns (hence the point of a break).
Go To An Amusement Park
Not necessarily the most available option, but should you live near an amusement park, spend a few bucks and see what it has to offer. The rides may be simple – and sometimes dangerous due to assembly – but it could be enough of a separation from your day to day to spark some sort of solace.
Be A Tourist
Forget that you live in the town you call “home” and venture out to its best tourist attractions. When you work/live in a city that has a lot of visitor options, you might not necessarily have time to appreciate some of the very things that built your homestead. Visit your city’s tourist center and see what hidden gems might be out there.
Volunteer
If you already have to work, this may not be the most novel idea, but if you’re so lucky as to not have to work consistently, it might not hurt to use spring break to take in some volunteer time. It looks good on a resumé and could lead to a potential job. Consider your field and research what non-profit groups would be a benefit to your major and potential work landscape post-graduation.
