The start of a new year is the perfect time to think about making lifestyle changes.
If getting more organized is one such priority for you this year, then it might not be a bad idea to consider managing a personal planner. Some may think the idea of investing in a planner is too “prehistoric,” but if you are looking to stay more organized, you may want to rethink your perspective on these handy little organizers. In today’s society, when we are pulled in various directions and have multiple commitments, we can end up being stretched too thin, overscheduling ourselves, and find it difficult to remember everything we need to get done. If you’re able to remember everything on your own, then that’s amazing.
However, a planner could free up some of that mind space to be used on other things. With proper planning and organization, such as through the habit of maintaining a planner, you might be able to offset the stress that comes with trying to remember everything yourself in order to stay on task and on-time.
The cost of investing in a planner can range anywhere from $10-$35, depending on which type and style you prefer. If you’re thinking it’s not worth it, think of the cost of missing an appointment or not having a project submitted on time, and you might change your mind. Not to mention, if you don’t keep a planner, you could wind up overscheduling yourself.
Overscheduling can cause you to become overwhelmed and put you in the situation of having to cancel plans with someone. Having too much to do will cause you not to be able to produce your best work and multiple cancellations will discourage the trust others have in your ability to keep your commitments.
Planners do more than just keep track of appointments, they are also useful for remembering important birthdays and anniversaries, jotting down notes and ideas, creating to-do lists, remembering when the next season of your favorite TV series starts, and depending on which type you choose, some will even help keep track of your habits, such as what you eat throughout the day.
Planners can also be a prime source of encouragement. Some come with stickers that will track your moods throughout the week, others have inspiring quotes, and the list of features goes on and on.
With a planner as your daily companion, you can rely on it more and lose the stress of trying to remember everything on your own.
If you have a busy lifestyle, multiple tasks to get done during the day, and numerous appointments each week, investing in a planner could be your ticket to a more organized, fun, and less stressful way to manage your life.
