Here are some great prank ideas and pranks that were actually pulled. All of these pranks were shared with us from college students all around the country.
Prank No. 1
During my freshman year in college, we weren’t in suite-style rooms, but in blocks of six that faced each other in the hallway. This housing situation made for good neighbors, as we all knew each other more or less after one weekend on campus. We quickly discovered that one of us – one of the roommates in the room next to mine – was the perfect mark for a practical joke. After a little bit of planning, being an engineering school, we decided to have a little fun at our friend’s expense.
One night, we got him completely drunk on Southern Comfort – not a challenge, as his liquor tolerance wasn’t very impressive – and started to get to work. Down the hall, in order to mask the noise of our work, we got busy cutting and measuring pieces of industrial-strength gaffer’s tape we had acquired from a friend in the theater department. On we went – pulling, measuring and cutting; until we had collected as many pieces as we thought it would take to cover the door from floor to ceiling. Once we had finished, we quickly went back to his room and after making sure his roommate had cleared anything he wanted out of his room for the night, we started to work.
A few hours later, as we sat around the hallway drinking beers and generally being impressed with ourselves, we heard a sound that sent us rolling in laughter – the sound of his doorknob opening and the loud swearing that emanated once he realized what we’d done. It was, by far, the best laugh all of us had that semester. I really suggest trying a prank like this on your friends.
Prank No. 2
During my freshman year at the University of Florida, I went out to the mall with a few friends. I browsed for a while, but didn’t find anything very interesting. Finally, as we were getting ready to head back to campus, something caught my eye, a life-sized Darth Vader cutout. I knew immediately this was something I had to have. I bought the cutout and carried it back to my dorm building on the campus bus (caught some odd looks for this). I had only met my roommate a few times at this point- he was out quite a bit. However, I left the Vader cutout set up right behind the door to our room, so as soon as you entered, there was Darth, staring you in the face. I never got to see his reaction- the only evidence I had that my prank was successful was a yellow sticky note on Vader’s chest I noticed the next day when I returned to the room. It read: “Dude, I almost c****** my pants.”
Prank No. 3
A great prank that I played on a friend in college, involved balloons, Saran Wrap and painters tape. I taped Saran Wrap to each side of his dorm room door, creating overlapping bands that went from the bottom to near the top of the door. Next, some friends and I blew up at least 100 balloons. We didn’t fill them all the way, making them only about the size of softballs. We then fed them into the slot in the Saran Wrap and the door. we crammed them in there, and so when my friend opened the door from inside his room, the balloons would spill inside and go everywhere. Smaller objects could also be used, but you might need a better way of securing the wrapping. packing peanuts or the insides of a beanbag chair might make even a bigger mess.
Prank No. 4
In your college apartment, dorm or housing go into the bathrooms. First, remove the shower head and inside the shower head you can put peppermints. So when your roommate takes a shower, the peppermints will dissolve and the residue will go through the shower head with the water. The peppermint residue will leave whoever has the pleasure of showering with it sticky. This is one of the best pranks for girls because it’ll get all over their hair. You can do similar things with Kool-Aid. The powder won’t necessarily leave the individual sticky, but it will dye their hair temporarily. Another thing someone could do in a college apartment, just be mean and pour flour into someone’s hair whether it be through panty hose and throw it, a bucket over a door, etc. The individual will immediately go shower to get it out. The flour becomes a paste, the moment it hits water. Therefore, the individual must shower for a very long time to get the flour out of their hair. This prank will definitely be a memorable one!
Prank No. 5
Do you live in an apartment or dorm? Get a roll of bubble wrap, cardboard and a co-conspirator. Sneak into the bathroom when no one is around and draw a template of the toilet seat so you will have the right size of seat. Cut the bubble wrap into the shape of the seat or seats if you live in a dorm and of course, leave the roll and any other evidence behind. Put it under the seat and using clear tape so no one will see, tape the sides down. Put the toilet seat back down on top gently so that no bubbles will pop and now that the practical joke is all prepared walk out nonchalantly. Put the tape strategically in a pocket or somewhere where it can’t be seen and wait for the first person to pull the April Fool’s prank on.
