As the Christmas season approaches, it’s time to think about what your college student would like. Now that they’re out of the house, think apartment when you think gifts. The right present could make life away from home more pleasant, easier, and more, well, full of good cheer.
So, parents: here is your student’s apartment Christmas gifts list.
Cookie Delivery. Ok, this one we recommend before Christmas. There is nothing that says “we love you” more than having cookies delivered from Mom and Dad during finals week. They may be staying up late or stressing majorly. Cookies are a great help. They also say “this will soon be over and you’ll be home for vacation.” How to have cookies delivered? Many college towns offer this, so a Web search is helpful. One franchise, Cookies by Design, is nationwide and worth checking into.
Espresso Machine. Espresso is a sign of sophistication. Even if you remember a time just a short while ago when they didn’t like coffee, learning to appreciate good coffee—and bitter, European-style coffee—is one of the rites of passage of being a college student. They can appreciate the beans. They can learn how to make a good cup of espresso or cappuccino. They can learn Italian. They can fantasize about junior year abroad in Italy. Buon Natale!
A Small Television. Stick with us here—it’s not what you think. A nice one with HDMI outputs. Why? Your daughter or son is likely sitting and peering at a laptop screen many hours a day. Many laptops have HDMI outputs. If their TV does as well, they can use their TV screen as a monitor. It’s better for their eyes and it saves space (two for one). Plus, they can watch Netflix with their roommates. Sometimes.
What was your favorite Christmas gifts in college?
