Microwave, toaster, oven, convection oven, stove, etc.
The amount of appliances a kitchen needs continues to build up. Not to mention all those pots and pans. Why would you buy all these expensive items for your small college apartment with barely any storage? All you really need is a simple coffee pot or Keurig.
Coffee pots and Keurigs don’t have to be used to make coffee exclusively. They contain heat and water which is enough to cook all kinds of food that you typically wouldn’t think of using a coffee maker for.
Boil water.
Pour water just like you normally would into your coffee maker and put whatever you want to cook straight into the pot. That can include pasta, ramen, and even whole eggs. With a Keurig, just put down a Cup Noodles or a cup of oatmeal. You can also make rice and soup. Remember with rice to use equal parts water to rice.
Use the burner like a mini stove.
At the base of your coffee pot is a burner that you can use without the pot. Just set the maker to warm, use a little butter or oil, and cook what you want straight on the burner. Use it to toast your bread or cook a delicious grilled cheese. You could even fry eggs and bacon. Just don’t forget to clean it up before brewing a cup of coffee.
Steam in the coffee filter.
You can use the coffee filter to cook vegetables for perfectly steamed veggies. You can even steam chicken, fish, and other seafood. Just put any of the ingredients into the coffee filter while you cook your ramen in the pot, and have a quick and easy dinner.
Don’t underestimate the power of coffee makers. Not only do they keep you awake during that dreaded 8 am class, they’ll also keep you well fed. You can purchase a coffee maker on Amazon ranging from $20 – $150.
