Do you love clutter and feeling like you don’t have a space for everything in your tiny apartment? Of course, not! Chances are though, if you’re living in a small college apartment you might feel that way, but there’s not reason you can’t make the most out of this tiny situation. People don’t realize how much space they can save with a little creativity.
Ditch the dresser
Dressers are a pain in the rear. They are bulky and take up so much room. Instead, get a bed with storage underneath and store your clothes there. If you can’t afford a new bed, convert your dresser drawers into under bed storage like this.
Make tension/ curtain rods your bff
You can insert tension or curtain rods into cabinets to create extra space to hang things, like bottles of cleaner. You can also zip tie little baskets to tension rods to create little compartments to put things in, like this. If you have a tall closet, you can make an extra rack to hang clothes or accessories from.
Multi-purpose your furniture
You can make a nicely painted chest double as a coffee table and storage. When trying to find the perfect desk at which to spend many sleepless nights doing last-minute homework, don’t just get a regular desk. Get a desk that has a bookcase built onto the top rear of it. If you don’t have enough books to fill the bookcase, get little baskets to store small trinkets and put them on the bookcase. Lots of stools now have removable lids which lead to storage compartments too.
Velcro
Is that the tacky train coming down the track, or is that a smart way to save space? Attach a strip of Velcro to the back of remotes and console controllers to hang them up in convenient places when you’re done using them. Velcro small cups or baskets to the inside of your bathroom cabinet under the sink for storing makeup, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste and anything else you can squeeze in there.
