Have you ever wondered if you are the worst type of roommate? Check out this awesome and hilarious video to see for yourself!
Most of us have had at least one bad roommate in our life. They steal their food, they bring unwanted guests over at terrible times, and they never shut the lights off after they leave. There is nothing worse than coming home to your student apartment and to food missing that you had been looking forward to during that boring lecture.
Living in a college apartment isn’t always easy. Whether you are rooming with your best friends or random new people, you never know how people are going to live and behave with other people until you actually live with them. The best way to resolve any issues is by sitting down and chatting with them. They might not even realize they were doing something to annoy you!
Some ways to stay on the good side of your roommate are to:
- Help clean the house (maybe even set up a schedule with your roommates on what each person is supposed to do),
- Write your names on your food that way you don’t steal any one’s food without realizing it.
- If your roommate(s) is studying and you have guests over, try not to talk loudly or even ask your roommate(s) if you can shut their door.
- Ask your roommate(s) if you can throw a party, before you actually throw that party.
- Create a schedule for laundry so you don’t have to worry about your roommate’s laundry sitting there for a few days.
These tips can help resolve a bad living situation. If things get out of hand though, definitely speak to your leasing/property manager about moving to a different apartment. Many off campus housing properties will allow you to switch for a fee.
