If you haven’t started watching Broad City on Comedy Central, you should.

It realistic, hilarious and relatable. The consists of two friends, Abbi and Ilana who live in New York City.

This amazing snippet of comedy wonder is also filled with real-life lessons, a majority of which apply to apartment living.

To include every lesson taught by Abbi and Ilana would take forever. So for the purpose of time, we will share the TOP 5 APARTMENT TIPS FROM BROAD CITY.

• Realize that your roommate’s boyfriend might spend just as much if not more time in your apartment as your actual roommate.
  • Beavers drives Abbi insane on multiple occasions but, there is nothing she can do because he is dating her roommate and she signed a lease. Instead of starting a fight or making the living arrangement unbearable for all parties, Abbi adjusted. She befriended Beavers and even at one point attempted to help him get in shape.
• There are risks in dating your neighbor.
  • Everything seems fine when Abbi starts to date her neighbor Jeremy. However, due to a long chain of events, they decide to end their “relationship.” This leads to A LOT of uncomfortable hallway encounters. You may marry your neighbor, but if you don’t then be prepared to walk past your ex-everyday.
• Do not AirBnB your apartment.
  • Unless you are a skilled AirBnB professional, if that exists, it is a huge risk. When Abbi and Ilana attempt to Airbnb their apartments for some extra cash, Abbi is robbed of all of her belongings.
• It may be smart to share an apartment with someone who isn’t your best friend.
  • Yes, Abbi and Ilana spend time together almost every day. But, they don’t live together and that’s important to remember. Your best friend is special but just like candy, too much of a good thing can make you sick. Focus on finding a roommate that lets you, be you.
• Don’t go anywhere strange alone.
  • If you’re checking out a new bar that’s one thing. But, if you’re meeting someone off of craigslist or going to a random address where there “should” be a house party, BRING A FRIEND. Abbi and Ilana always have each other’s backs. Find one friend you can call in a time of need who will be there.
