Living off campus can be exciting for any college student. It’s part of maturing into an adult and there are responsibilities that come with that. There’s also a lot of fun too. Here are few tips on how you can successfully live as a college student in off-campus apartments.
Living Off Campus: Make sure you map out your route to class from home.
Since you are living off campus it’s important to know how long it will take you to get to class. Some college professors set requirements such as attendance and being on time. Make sure you know your route so you won’t be late. Also, getting to class early on the first day guarantees you the seat that you want.
Living Off Campus: Explore social groups on campus.
Since you’re not living in the dorms, your friends probably won’t live down the hall from you anymore. You will have to learn to get a little more social. Check out some of the social groups on campus. Social groups are a great way to make friends and they always look good on resumes.
Living Off Campus: Meet people around your apartment.
A lot of apartment complexes host social events for their residents to meet each other. Don’t be afraid to get a little social, it’s a great way to meet friends and study buddies that live close by.
Living Off Campus: Take advantage of free time between classes.
Do homework while you’re waiting in between classes or if you have part of the day off. This is a great way to ensure that you have plenty of time to be social after all your daily classes are over. You’ll never have to worry about choosing between studying and having fun.
Living Off Campus: Don’t forget to spend time on campus either!
There are still plenty of reasons to spend time on campus outside of just classes. Go support your school by attending a sporting event, play or club run event. There’s nothing quite like supporting your school with friends.

I once moved in an apartment so far away from campus I felt alienated and disconnected. I had to wait until my lease was up to move out. It was like time standing still.. Dont make the same mistake. I think its important to find a spot relatively close to campus so you can feel connected and easily get to class on time. Also an apartment with a fair amount of students living there helps too.
