Whether you live in the dorms, an apartment or another form of student housing, the right kitchen appliances can make life much easier. Sure, there’s a cafe on campus or you could stop at Starbucks, but when time or money is tight, having a few kitchen appliances can save the day.
Kitchen Appliances
1. A coffeemaker
Do you drink coffee? If so, this should have been obvious. Those $3 lattes and specialty coffees add up pretty quick. A good coffeemaker can save you time (there’s no waiting in line) and lots of money.
Not a coffee drinker? You still might want to consider it. The newest machines also make getting a cup of hot tea or hot chocolate much easier and less expensive. And, your coffee-loving friends will thank you.
2. A microwave
Some days the food in the cafeteria just doesn’t sound good or you have the flu and don’t want to leave your room. Whatever the reason you want to skip going out, a microwave makes it possible to have something warm to eat. For rewarming leftover pizza or late night mac and cheese, a microwave is vital to living in student housing.
3. A refrigerator
It probably goes without saying, but one of most vital kitchen appliances in a dorm room is a fridge. For keeping that leftover pizza for breakfast tomorrow or storing the creamer for your homemade coffee, a dorm sized refrigerator is an investment in your happiness while in student housing.
4. A blender
This falls in the nice-to-have category instead of absolute necessity, but if you can get one, it’s a great thing to have. Smoothies are a great option for breakfast or for lunch when your class runs late and you have to get to the next one.
