Looking for an apartment can be stressful. After all, you are shopping for your new home.
Knowing this, you’re probably going to shop around to find the best arrangement for you. This means going on a lot of different complex tours.
After a few different tours, the complexes start to blend together and it’s all a blur. But, there are a few things to look out for while touring a complex that means the apartment is bad news.
Here are the three biggest red flags to spot on an apartment tour;
- If there are a lot of animal feces on the grounds of the complex.
- This could mean that the community doesn’t have good maintenance or is poorly cared for. Also, this could mean there are irresponsible pet owners. Both of these can lead to trouble down the line and can create a nuisance.
- The toilets in the model take a long time to flush.
- A long flush normally means old pipes or equipment. Problems with plumbing can end in a headache for the renter. If you come across this on the tour, ask when the pipes were most recently replaced.
- Outdated amenities.
- Having old or broken fitness equipment is a huge sign that the complex does not care about the amenities they offer. This also means they could be slacking in other areas as well. A complex should care about their tenants and want to keep every amenity up to date to do so.
You will go on a lot of tours but remember these red flags when making your final decision.
