Parkside Apartments is an older complex in Davis offering studio and one- through four-bedroom apartments sitting on 13 acres of park style grounds which back up to the railroad tracks, which can be a problem for some tenants. Rents range from $895/month-$1,880/month [March 2009] with a $400-500 deposit and $25 application fee. Cats are allowed if they are over a year old and a deposit of $250 is paid [March 2009].

Parkside is on Unitrans E bus line and P/Q bus line, as well as the Yolobus 42 line. Parking is available on site, but tenants may have to park on the street at certain times; street parking can be difficult on weekends when Community Park receives heavier use.

All units have some sort of climate control, be it a wall unit in the living room or a central HVAC system. Some apartments have an "updated" kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, and new cabinets. The ranges and ovens are electric. Of course, the more amenities your unit has, the higher the rent.

The apartment complex pays the water, sewage, and trash bills. Hot water is included. Gas and electric are individually metered. The electrical system is a bit weak, with a 2 bedroom 1 bath unit with no central air having only a 60 ampere main circuit breaker [please expand with info from other units]. Most of the outlets are ungrounded, although the outlets in the kitchen and bathrooms are grounded. There may be other grounded outlets in the apartment, but this varies from unit to unit and their locations may change.

The clubhouse has a pool table, a fireplace, and a food prep area. The fitness center has the basic assortment weight and cardio machines. The computer room offers free internet access. While printing, faxing, and copying are available, there are charges per page. The pool hours are from 8 AM to 10 PM M-Sun, as well as the fitness center. The Club Room and Business center are open from 10 AM to 5PM M-F.

The laundry room is pricy, with a wash cycle being $1.50 and a dry cycle being $1.25. ((But guess what - that's how much all laundromats cost. You aren't living with your mother.))
